If you are here that means you too have most likely sent your passport through the wash or otherwise damaged it abroad. You should be thankful I went through this first* (you lucky dog, you) because I know how hard it is to find good information on what to do if you "destroy" your passport while traveling. I'll update this (maybe) once I'm done. I am currently a US citizen on vacation in Paderborn, Germany. This year, I think I will be visiting the Nixdorf Computer Museum, the Pader river, and the warm inside of the US Consulate in Frankfurt. You see, I washed my passport on 9.6.2009 (for those not familiar with the far superior European system, that would be the ninth of June :p ). After much searching I came to the conclusion that... no one can tell me what to do. I did however find these rare gems among the billions of websites on how to quickly replace a passport... if one is in the US.

Blog of an American ex-pat living in Argentina who went through a very similar situation. Actually what I modeled my own experiences on.

Rather chaotic forum. Posts are roughly split on usefulness, but a seemingly worthy source of info [NOTE: I HAVE NOT FACT CHECKED ANY OF THIS! NOR AM I OR DO I WORK FOR ANYONE WHO WOULD HAVE A CLUE!]
